It’s basement moisture season again. The season when your concrete basement flooring begins to sweat. It’s bad enough in an unfinished basement when you can’t use it for storage because the floor is too damp. But it’s even worse when you have a finished basement and you notice that damp, musty smell. It can make you sick.
But we’re not talking about being sick and tired of the issue. With basement moisture comes mold and mildew that can cause serious health issues.
What causes moisture in the basement flooring?
The problem stems from the fact that basement foundations are made of concrete. And while concrete is long lasting, strong, and relatively inexpensive, it is also a porous material. What this means is that it is constantly absorbing moisture from the soil and releasing it into your basement. The severity of your basement moisture problems depends on how new the concrete is and how much moisture there is in the soil.
Basement moisture problems can range from mildly elevated humidity to puddles.
But for every problem, if you look long and hard enough, you’ll find an answer. And that’s exactly what V-8 High-Performance Floors has done.
The Solution is Rev M.V.P. (Moisture Vapor Protection)
When it comes to moisture buildup in your basement flooring, Rev M.V.P. properly seals the concrete and prevents moisture from seeping in and building up. V-8’s Rev M.V.P. is a fast drying, two part, 100% solids epoxy product that is painted onto your concrete basement flooring. It forms a barrier that reduces and protects against moisture vapor in both green and old concrete. Because V-8’s Rev M.V.P. can be applied to new cement just 24 hours after pouring, it is no longer necessary to let the concrete cure for 28 days before finishing. And Rev M.V.P. can be used as either a primer or a stand-alone coating.
