You always want to be ready for a project regardless of the size or scope. However, when preparing to install a floor coating in a business, you want to pay extra special attention to all the details, as successful completion and a happy client can lead to other locations or partner businesses. The following list offers steps to make sure you follow before, during, and after a big project.
- Understand the client’s wants and needs. Before committing to and beginning a business flooring project, make sure you know everything that they hope to accomplish. If the project is outside of your expertise or too large, you’re better off admitting that to yourself up front and passing on the job, as opposed to providing less than stellar work.
- Proper surface preparation and correct installation. If you don’t properly prepare a surface before installing the floor coating, the new floor won’t last long and your client will be very unhappy that they wasted their money. You want to make sure that you have properly prepped the concrete by shot blasting or diamond grinding and also ensure the surface is clean, dry, and ready for installation of the floor coating.
- Follow up with your client. Upon completion of the project, review your work with the client to make sure they are happy with the final result. If everything went according to plan, then you can secure even more work from them or a referral. Don’t be afraid to ask about other opportunities either. If you did a great job and they seem to be satisfied, ask if they know anyone else who needs new business flooring.
