volatile organic compoundsVolatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. They are often found in chemicals such as paint, aerosol sprays, cleansers and disinfectants. They have a high vapor pressure at ordinary room temperature, which causes large numbers of molecules to evaporate and enter the surrounding air. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) currently regulates VOCs in the air, water, and land.

Some VOCs are harmful to the environment and can cause short and long term adverse health effects.  Eye and respiratory tract irritation, headaches, dizziness, visual disorders, and memory impairment are among the immediate symptoms that some people have experienced soon after exposure to some organics.

Because the concentrations are usually low and the symptoms are slow to develop, research into VOCs and their effects is difficult.

VOCs are often found in commercial and residential flooring options. When VOCs are in floors, the installation process can be harmful to those around the resin.  This can cause the above health effects both to the contractors and the people in the home or office where the floors are being installed. People often have to leave the building during installation, causing great disruption.

The best way to stay safe from VOCs is to limit your exposure. Luckily, V-8 Hybrid floors do not contain any VOCs during installation. We are committed to creating a safe environment both for contractors and clients. Our VOC-free floors means the installation area is non-toxic and does not need to be sectioned off. Families, employees, and clients can all stay in the building throughout installation, which eliminates any inconvenience.

Everyone is trying to live free of VOCs, and V-8 hybrid floors are a great VOC-free flooring option. Not only can the contractors install it safely, but homeowners and clients can breathe easy.
